Samples collected and stored by the Biobank Lab are used in genetic research, associated with the identification of biomarkers (indicators) linked by various human traits and disorders. Biological samples are collected from volunteer donors, either hospital patients suffering from a specific disease entities, as well as healthy individuals (donated biological material for our research). Currently we house specimens derived from the 10 000 Poles from all over the country (and number of collected samples is increasing) e. g. cancer patients, diabetes patients, obesity patients, allergic patients, autism spectrum disorders patients, etc. These biospeciments and stored data will enable a better understanding causes, effects and development of human disorders (See Published Papers).
